What we do
Increase accessibility, improve engagement and broaden your audience with our in-house live captions.
We keep things simple and stress-free for our clients by offering end-to-end solutions. We’re not just project managers or an agency. We are professional live captioners with technical expertise in-house. We understand live environments thanks to our extensive experience and understanding of what is needed backstage to produce them. We can seamlessly slot into any production teams, speak the technical language and maximise crew, client and audience engagement for any in-person, hybrid or remote event.
From conferences to live streams or performances, our human captions aren’t just highly accurate with low latency, they look great too. We work with our clients to design and implement solutions that reflect their project requirements and boost accessibility using our in-house broadcast standard technology.
Providing quality service is at the heart of our work. From clear, expert communication and advice in the discovery and pre-production stages, to the delivery of captions for your project, we are adaptable, reliable and meticulous in everything we do.
We are Words Apart.

Our approach
Discovery
During discovery, we learn about your project, what the requirements are and what challenges or restrictions need to be considered.
Our technical director can liaise directly with your team to design a solution that fits your requirements and desired outcomes.
Pre-production
Before the event, we will begin pre-production. This typically involves research of the subject matter and training our systems to recognise client specific vocabulary and industry terms. We will coordinate testing with your team and attend any rehearsals.
Production
During the event, we will provide human live captions. We may offer multiple captioners depending on the duration of the event. Production can take place in-person or remotely.
Following the event, we can supply transcripts and create and embed captions into recordings.
Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQs)
-
Live captioning, also known as live subtitling, speech-to-text interpreting and voice writing, is the real-time transcription of spoken words into text for the audience to read. This service can be used in live broadcasts, events such as conferences, webinars, workshops, meetings, live streams or performances to ensure accessibility for the D/deaf and hearing loss community or for people who need or prefer to read along.
-
Our professional captioners listen to the audio and repeat it clearly in real-time using speech-to-text software tailored to their voices. This technique increases quality of the output while minimising latency. This service can be provided in-person or remotely, depending on the requirements of your project.
-
Live captioning makes your event more inclusive, ensuring that all attendees, including those with loss of hearing, non-native language skills, or anyone who prefers to follow along with written text, have equal access to the information being shared.
-
Live captioning can benefit any sized project, including, but not limited to:
Conferences and seminars
Webinars and virtual meetings
Corporate presentations and keynote speeches
Annual General Meetings (AGM)
Panel discussions
Workshops and training sessions
Live performances
Concerts
Broadcast television

Yes, we can provide live captioning in various languages. Please contact us for specific language availability or if you need multi-language captioning for your project.
-
Whilst AI can certainly provide interesting solutions, our human-only approach to captioning ensures total control over the quality and offering nuance to the output through the ability to distinguish speakers, accents, terminology and other variables that could affect the captions.
We care about every project we take on and believe in connecting with our audience through a service made by humans for humans.
-
Our experienced captioners are trained to deliver highly accurate captions. Whilst 100% accuracy is not realistic in a live environment, we train and prepare for every project in advance to achieve the highest level of accuracy possible. We also offer post-event editing to provide transcripts of the live captions.
-
Yes, we offer the option to provide a transcript of the captions after the event. This can be used as a text copy of the content or as a basis to create offline captions that can be embedded into the recorded video.
-
We will work with you to provide end-to-end solutions tailored to your project. For in-person events, we can integrate seamlessly into your production or AV team and work with them to provide the best output.
